Would Native Americans have played a key role towards a more environmentally friendly world had they not been invaded? Otherwise, what would their development have looked like?

Can I ask you why you would think Native Americans woukd play a role in a more environmentally friendly world? They heavily modified their landscape through terracing, diverging rivers (San Juan River at Teotihuacan), planting orchards (Amazon Basin), and routinely burning the landscape.
