I have a few questions about poop.

by [deleted]

Hi Historians - I have a couple questions regarding poop. Most of this comes from me wondering, "If our diet is so much better today, how does our poop stack against someone's from 500 years ago?" So, seriously:

  • Is there a record of ways people would try to improve their digestion?
  • Did they even try?
  • Is it an issue that has been described/studied? Did people live like Louis C.K. describes - always within a 48 hour window of diarrhea?
  • Before toilet paper, what?

I just want to know. This is a serious inquiry about a topic where people can get a little too squirrelly. Please leave those answers at home. Thanks.
