This is a comment I found under a youtube video. Is it really true that at some point (which?) the American continents were more populated than Europe? Do these figures have any merit?
There is no way there were 6.5 billion people living in the Americas in the 1400s.
Yea, something is wrong here with those numbers.
Before going to look for more accurate numbers, I've went and dug up the source of this claim. So far, it appears to come from the comments in this video of Indian Spiritual Vocal Shaman music:

The comment in full reads:
"While I listened to this compilation in the 3d time ) , some thoughts came in my head : "... from 1400s to 1900s - only 5% of native americans population remained from 6,5 billions ! Just imagine in the whole of Europe was not even 1 billion people in 1400 y.. Native americans let to destroy them because they have big heart and could not understand bloodly killers from medieval Europe. Im glad that we have possibilities to learn nave americans culture and music. Thanking to the strong indians` family traditionsl !"
P.S. Maybe sorry for my English I am from Ukraine"
This comment is from the poster of the video, and the poster of the video is "Ultimate Relax Club". So, with context as to where the quote came from, I'm not sure you want to go with that solely on their word alone. I'm going to go dig and find the more accurate numbers. I'm wouldn't be surprised if this topic hasn't been tackled on this subreddit before.
