What caused the Arab- Israeli conflict to escalate to such a huge scale?

Any information on important wars, treaties, attempts at peace declarations, and leaders would be helpful, thanks.

Can you elaborate on your question a bit further? The conflict receives a significant amount of international attention considering the size of territory and those affected by it. There are 3 primary wars between Arab states and Israel with several independent peace treaties that were signed. The Oslo Accords also aimed to solve problems between Palestinians and Israelis.

To echo /u/ibnTarikh, some clarification would be good--this question is pretty vauge.

However, I'd say it was pretty much always escalated. The first war in 1948 involved several Arab countries, and occurred after a UN vote that had a lot of international exposure. Later on, in 1956, 1967, and 1973 involved a number of countries in the region and international actors (with France and the UK in 1956, and the US and USSR each supporting a side in '67 and '73). Even long prior to Israeli independence, the conflict substantially involved a world power (the UK).
