How did Cyprus handle the invasion of the Sea Peoples and how were they affected by the Bronze Age Collapse?

In regards to Cyprus and the Sea Peoples, it's one of the more difficult pieces of the dynamics that caused the collapse of the bronze age.

Most of the knowledge that we have about the Sea Peoples comes from letters written between kings and princes from one empire to another. Those empires, of whom we have the most information that survives come from Egypt, Hattusa, and Ugarit.

There are letters that exist from Cyprus to Ugarit, and it seems that there was definitely some upheaval being created in Cyprus. However, there are some indications which lead us to be able to imply that some of the Sea Peoples could have originated in Cyprus, or rather, they tagged along with the original Aegean Sea Peoples.

The story of the Sea People and the collapse of the bronze age is a more complicated one than one may realize. There was an entire systems collapse, and it was because of a number of factors, both environmental and man made.

There is a new book I just read about the collapse of the bronze age, and it has plenty of discussion on the Sea People. The book is called "1177 B.C. The Year Civilization Collapsed". I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the collapse of the bronze age and the Sea People.

The book definitely touches on what was going on in Cyprus. I don't have the book on hand, or otherwise I would go back and check exactly what was going on in Cyprus in more detail. If I get the chance, perhaps later tonight, I will go over that section, and update this post some more.
