I have recently been reading the book. It's by Ramchandra Guha. How accurate/biased is the book? The Wikipedia page contains very little information. Any suggestions for Indian history in this period(1950 onwards) are welcome too.
As an alternative book of similar length and covering the same period of time you can try 'India after Independence' by Bipin Chandra.
It is a slightly more detailed and dry than India After Gandhi.
