Your question may or may not get removed (I mean, it is AskHistorians, but it's not really a question about History, so I leave it in the hands of the almighty mods) but I feel will give you my answer regardless.
I listen to a lot of punk, hardcore, post-punk. This is the main staple of my soundtracks while reading/preparing lessons/doing research.
Bands like Raised Fist, Refused, Good Riddance, Underoath, the whole discography of Coheed and Cambria gets a lot of play. August Burns Red, Dropkick Murphies, Rancid, H-Block 101, International Noise Conspiracy, 59 Times the Pain.
Also I listen to Gaelic Punk, small as the genre is. Mill A h-uile Rud, Oi Polloi, this kind of thing.
