Is it true because of the Battle of Belleau Wood, Marines weren't used in the European WW2 theater?

No, the US was fighting a two front war. The marines only numbered 600,000 men. They were needed where their special skills would be the most useful.

General Eisenhower requested marines for the Normandy campaign but the marines couldn't split it's logistics like that.
