Is it widely believed that a person called Jesus existed around the 0-30 AD period? What evidence do we have?

I recently watched a talk by PhD historian Richard Carrier. You can find it here. He mentions that he is in the minority among experts in the field in believing that Jesus as a person did not actually exist.

The talk doesn't get really in depth but he gives a good overview of his theory. The basic idea is that the story of Jesus in the gospels matches up pretty well with other gods or deities in other religions, and that he was meant to be described in the same way - as a strictly supernatural deity, but through the years the myth grew into him existing as a man.
