What has drugs done for the development of logical thinking?

For example, ancient Greek philosophers, did they delve much into recreational drug use? In anyway can we contribute that to their profound accomplishments?

Or what about esteemed scientists? Kings, dictators or magnificent authors?

Maybe its an awkward question and drugs may be a solution to many other ingredients that made up something special but in any scenario I'd love a glance at ideas.

I can tell you that Freud did a lot of drugs in his time, (not a joke) and some of his theories have been instrumental in how we think about things today, such as the idea of the unconscious, and defense mechanisms. Both have a wide range of applicability, and as far as we have seen, are quite real.
