Few years ago I was visiting St. Petersburg and while there I spent a while in Hermitage museum. While there I overheard a conversation between some tourists and a guide saying that there are words carved/written by a queen saying: "I see them coming over the frozen lake/river". Now I have no idea if that was in this museum (it should make sense as it was winter palace) or somewhere else or if I misheard everything, but I would like to know more about it and if possible even see picture of those words. Thank you for your time!
It was in October. I dont think neva freezes in october .
