Are the are any documents or journals written by Napoleon detailing exactly what his mission or goal was and his own rationalization of his exploits? Would be quite fascinating to get in the man's head.
I would suggest looking at Memoirs of Napoleon Bonaparte - Complete by Louis Antoine Fauvelet de Bourienne (www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/3567) if you are interested. Though not written directly by Napoleon it does give an interesting description of him in his early years and what shaped him as an individual.
