Marx was born to a Jewish family in the German Rhineland in 1818, but his father eventually converted to Christianity. Would it have been part of his education, as child or a young man, to read the the Bible? Specifically, the Prophets? In what language would he have read them?
It is difficult to say. His father was largely non-religious, converting from Judaism for political reasons. His earliest writings aren't religious in any way, though he most certainly did read the bible by the time he had become active in the Young Hegelian movement which had religion as one of its primary focal points.
