Dancing can get pretty sweaty, did strip clubs (and their older equivalents) smell awful before A/C and quality perfumes? How did they deal with that from say, the 1970s and back?
I'm not sure how serious this question really is but I can say that perfume has existed in one form or another for most of time. Definitely before the 70s.
Therefore the answer is probably that they smelled like perfume
I think a better question would be how long have strip clubs existed.
I can't answer that question but I would say the modern form or strip club most like hasn't existed very long in the full context of human history
