It is because the American Government is a very close ally to Israel, and Israel's only ally in the Middle East (or close to it) is Turkey. Not only that, but Turkey is a station for the US to continue their involvement with the Middle East, and every time the Federal Government even comes close to recognizing the Armenian Genocide, the Turkish Government threatens to end their relationship.
