As an Indian, I have a fascination with Pakistan. I have read articles by several Pakistani experts, which claim that Jinnah wanted Sharia to be implemented or that he wanted a secular democracy or some other variant. On talk shows, this question frequently leads to violent arguments.
Given that nowadays, all actors in the Pakistani politics, wether the established political parties or Pakistani Taliban or the Pakistani elite, claim their views to be consistent with Jinnah's vision, what exactly was Jinnah's vision for Pakistan?
EDIT : Fixed grammer.
According to a Sharia 4 Pakistan website: "[Jinnah] appointed a Hindu, Jogendra Nath Mandal as the first law minister of Pakistan. Was that Hindu ever going to establish Islamic laws?... He ordered the Air Force and Army to bomb Muslims of Waziristan who were only demanding to substitute the British judicial system with Islamic laws."
Based on these facts, it is safe to say Jinnah wanted a secular government with secular Muslims in charge, similar to Turkey.
There is no doubt that Jinnah was a secular person, but

the problem with that statement is Jinnah also pandered to Islamic religious leaders with promises of implementing sharia in Pakistan. I am not an academic, but check this link

He was also unclear as to what kind of govt., he wanted to establish in Pakistan. Read

Also, as a side note, read the resignation letter of J.N. Mandal (the hindu law minister), coz most people in Pakistan, still use this claim without knowing that he later emigrated to India.

Jinnah was definitely less idealistic than Gandhi. I get the strong indication that he was afraid of a Hindu majority suppressing the Muslim minority since he saw it during pre independence elections.
