I was just reading about the attempted military coup of the early 90s that resulted in Yeltsin dramatically standing on an armored vehicle in Moscow. The coup fell apart within a few days. What happened to the people involved in the coup after the fact?
The leaders of the coup were arrested after the coup failed but pardoned in the mid 90s after the USSR collapsed.
Most of them went on to have careers in government, academia, the military or the private sector in post-communist Russia.
