What can you tell me about my ancestors coat of arms?

by Cndymountain

Hi, I am not sure if this is really the correct subreddit but I hope that you can help me regardless, (even if only guiding me to the right sub). :)

I come from a line of swedish nobility called "von Celsing", and I was wondering what the symbols on the coat of arms are and what they signify. It would be interesting to hear what the choices of symbols might be able to say about the my family.

Coat of Arms

Thanks in advance for any helpful reply!

The crown at the top of the shield is a Baronial crown, indicating that your ancestors were Barons in Sweden. The Lion on the right seems to indicate that they were a military family. The two helmets left and right are reserved for nobility. The three crowns in the centre (hjartskold or heart-shield) are from the Swedish national arms.

That's fairly cast iron information. The below is some additional details I gleaned from a fairly quick research trawl through the interweb.

Ostrich feathers (such as those on the left) are a sign of willing obedience, such as to a king. Olive branches such as those held by the lion are a sign of peace and concordance. The bird in the bottom left is either a crow or a raven which means 'diving providence' or 'watchful in battle'.
