We all know that Germany and Italy are renowned for making fantastic cars, the same can be applied to Japan (they make a lot of them). Why does it seem like these former Axis members are nowadays leading in the car industry?
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I was really curious.
Can you be a bit more specific as to what you mean by "leading". If we are going by production #s, the USA + China make more than every other country combined. This used to be different as the USA has doubled car production over the last 4 or so years.
hi OP! just a reminder of the rule against discussing current events (for our purposes, anything less than 20 years old) in this sub. If you would like responses that address the auto industry post-1994, this question will need to be cross-posted elsewhere.
The Marshall plan for preventing the spread of communism post WWII involved a lot of rebuilding of infrastructure and economy in Axis countries. America pumped a lot of money, tech, and deals into these countries to get society running smoothly and not leave a disgruntled lower class for a revolution. This lead to these countries continued economic good times and strong manufacturers. I have no idea if any of this applies to Italy though.
