I've been looking into Lucifer today, after learning Satan was an entirely different entity until recently, and went on quit the casual research tangent. As I learned more about Lucifer as a metaphor to describe the fall of Babylonian royalty (?) and Venus personified as the goddesses of love, I've come to wonder if the concepts are linked.
Was Lucifer in the Bible meant to represent the feminine, animalistic human nature, or love/passion? Would this carry over into Jesus describing Christianity's rise to power as the light of the morning star or the fall of Babylon's king(s) compared to Lucifer? Am I misinterpreting anything or looking way too far into this? Thanks!
I have to say I've never heard of a correlation between Lucifer and the goddess of love Venus, but I do know of the correlation with the planet.
As Lucifer, "known" to have fallen from heaven, is associated with the Morning Star, I believe the connection is quite direct. The Morning Star (Venus) is a bright star seen right before dawn, acting as representation of the Lucifer's fall.
What exactly are you reading? I think you are making some large mythological leaps in your associations. Which biblical texts are you reading these ideas into? Which "other aspects of Christianity were directly adapted from paganism"?
I have some deep critical reservations about your approach but I can't engage and discuss without having more of an idea of where these ideas are coming from.
