How did the American government gather enough public support to engage in the Korean war so soon after WW2?

  1. The fear of Communism was very much real "The Red Scare"
  2. North Korea was the initial aggressor, and after WWII Americans were seen as the ultimate liberators
  3. The Japanese defeated the Koreans with ease and the Americans defeated the Japanese, so why wouldn't the Americans defeat the Koreans
  4. All the kids who were teenagers in WWII were now old enough to get "their own piece of the action" when they were just too young for WWII
  5. The US had the Atomic Bomb, which was seen as a basically God-like power (to be honest it pretty much was at that time period)
  6. Coming off of back to back world war victories, wouldn't you feel pretty confident about your odds against a relatively untrained upstart like NK?
