Can anybody help identify these people? Circa 1944-45

Here is the picture. I received it from my girlfriend's grandfather, who served as a Marine in the Pacific front. Thanks in advance!

The caption gives away one of the figures--"Dug Out Dug" was the moniker given to General Douglas MacArthur when he retreated to the island of Corregidor during the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. This island was a fortress, unlike the Bataan peninsula where the bulk of the American Army was holding out. The picture is pretty blurry, but I am nearly certain that the man on the left coming down the steps is MacArthur.

(Edited to add the below)

After looking at the man on the right coming down the steps, it's possible that he is Medal of Honor winner General Jonathan Wainwright. The man in question certainly has a slim build, which matches Wainwright's physique, as does the thin nose of the pictured individual. Wainwright surrendered to the Japanese on Corregidor and suffered during his captivity (he was painfully thin when he was released). However, he was present at the Japanese surrender on the USS Missouri, and received the Medal of Honor despite MacArthur's objections. I can't be certain that it's Wainwright, but it looks a bit like him.
