Maybe a bit too niche, I'm not sure. I'm interested in something that also focuses on the military strategic aspects.
While we're here, I'm interested in any books that might include information on the whole civil war. Again, military focus is the point of interest.
"Savage Wars of Peace" by Max Boot isn't entirely about it, but does devote a chapter to the Polar Expedition. The book, generally speaking, covers the minor conflicts that the United States has been involved in. Not the most academic of works, but I found it enjoyable, and would recommend it.
