I'm not looking for the entire decade but only the early years, 1920 - 1924. What were some key issues? How was the music, fashion, cultural patterns and role of men/women? Was there any economical events? What made the early years of the 1920s the "Roaring Twenties"?
Edit: The region I am talking about is the United States.
I do not view myself qualified to answer this, but I would suggest you specify the region you're talking about?
I am sure the social issues of 1920's USA were different from those in Germany or the UK
In the United States, the early 1920s marked a period of economic prosperity. This was due to the United States emergence from World War I as a world leader. During the War, the US had put its economy on overdrive to produce everything needed for the war effort, and unlike Europe, it's infrastructure was undamaged by the war. After the War, the US was able to change its economic production to benefit itself and the rest of the world (for reconstruction) - thus creating these great economic conditions. In general, the populace was very prosperous - "a chicken in every pot, and a car in every garage."
Culturally, the popular style at the time was Art Deco. Houses and clothes were designed with this style. Women were wearing shorter skirts and high heals. Jazz came into the mainstream. The radio became popular and so Americans were exposed to lots of new media. The roles of Women and Men in society were nuclear - after the war, women bowed out of the workforce and the returning soldiers filled the vacant spots.
To the meat of your question - In the 1920s, the biggest social issue is undoubtedly prohibition. Many Americans resented prohibition because it wasn't solving the problems that its proponents said it was. In Fact, prohibiting alcohol actually made a lot of these problems worse - prohibition caused a lot of crime throughout the US. This was due to rumrunners and bootleggers who had strong mafia ties.
Women were just gaining suffrage, but it wouldn't be until later in WWII where they were given more recognition.
Additionally, in the south, Jim Crow laws were still in effect, but the Civil Rights movement had yet to gain traction.
The roaring twenties was, as they say, "the calm before the storm" of the Great Depression.
