What were some of the biggest factors leading to Athens Loss in the Peloponnesian war to Sparta?

As the title says, what were some of the key factors... It'd be brilliant if you had sources so I could read up on it further.

The plague in Athens at the time may have had something to do with weakened people, but I believe it was due to the Athenian leader Alcibiades trying to cut off the Spartan supply line to Sicily, this failure severely weakened the military power of Athens and this gave Sparta and her new Persian allies a strong upper hand.
