I've been looking up modern military ration packs today. They're very interesting as a microcosm for a nation's cuisine and culture. Modern ones seem very balanced and have a huge amount of variety them so I can see they'd be good for morale.
But what did Soldiers in World War II eat? Were they given individual ration packs like today and how were those divided out? Also in situations like the Great Patriotic War how would rations be delivered to the Russian and Germans in somewhere as brutal as Stalingrad?
