Did the gene pool of Italy in 100 CE differ substantially from the modern nation?

Are modern Italians (excluding immigrants) lighter-skinned on average than Italians in antiquity, due to various barbarian invasions?

I don't feel safe commenting on specifics regarding skin colour, but there were certainly significant influxes of Germanic tribes, especially the Ostrogoths and the Longobardi (Lombards). They did not come close to completely displacing local populations, but certainly did establish a population presence.
