Just read Bart Ehrman's "Misquoting Jesus" and am wondering if anyone has ever published a New Testament translation that tries to be as primitive, textually speaking, as possible?
The New Revised Standard Version (NSRV) tries to do this and achieves some limited success. The result is a bit bland, it fails to capture some of the really awkward grammar (eg. in Revelation), and insists on using the anachronistic "Church" to translate ecclesÃa instead of the more appropriate "community". Still, it's probably the best you'll get without learning Greek.
What do you mean by 'primitive' in this context?
