Why is Switzerland so uninvolved?

by [deleted]

Switzerland is always neutral. Hitler didn't care about it. It was not involved in any thing related to the cold war, soviet union or communism. Why is that?

Switzerland is far from being uninvolved, especially concerning "any thing related to cold war".

Swiss soldiers act as supervisors over the DMZ between the two Koreas since 1953^^[1] .

Switzerland acts as protector state of the USA[sic] in Cuba^^[2] and Iran^^[3] since the US ended diplomatic relations in 1961 and 1980 respectively.

The reasons for this are Switzerlands stability(the only other European country that didn't go through civil war or occupation between 1914 and '45 is Sweden) and neutrality(again Sweden is the only European country which didn't take sides(at least officially) during major conflicts since 100 years).

The reasons for that are somewhat complicated, but a main concern was(and still is to some extent) that a country with few natural ressources and no access to the sea cannot rely on treaties with with single neighbour countries, but must instead keep relations with all of them going. Furthermore the Swiss military doctrine since the army reforms of 1874 trust on no alliance partners, but instead trusts solely its own armed forces to guarantee the country's sovereignity. Mainly because Switzerland had pretty bloody history of mercenaries which died for other countries interests, but other factors played their part as well.
