The most important one was likely the Anglo-Japanese Naval Agreement. In 1902 they signed an agreement to mutually defend eachother, should the other engage in a conflict (excluding a conflict with either China, or Korea, independently). So, when war broke out with Germany in 1914, Japan joined the war on the side of Britain. They attacked German colonies in the pacific, and defended Entente shipping lanes.
