How did the German Intelligence Service manage to infiltrate Mossad in the 1960's?

by mystical-me

My question comes from a story I read where the German Intelligence Service was the only Western intel agency to know Israel planned to attack Egypt to end the war quickly in their favor, in 1967. They were able to report to the Americans, who seemed to think the opposite was going to happen, even knowing the attack time/beginning of the war to the hour.

It does not say it infiltrated the Mossad, it says they forecasted the event accurately and this makes sense. Anyone within the intel community can tell you that sometimes is easy to predict something without any infiltration. An increase in the air force sorties for training, mobilization calls, political contacts, newspapers (yes, newspapers), civil defense activity increase and a long etc are all signals that something is about to happen, and many of these are open source, a proper intelligence service like the German one should be able to go much further with SIGINT, ELINT, IMINT, HUMINT etc. I doubt they ever infiltrated the Mossad, they just managed to read the signals accurately.

Could you link the story, by any chance? I am having trouble finding anything on this, and have never heard of it. The decision to go to war was hardly made until June 1, and was still tentative more or less until two days before.

I double checked all my books on the subject and have found no information on it. Any additional information I could look into to help my search would be great!
