Religious understanding of World War I and II

I was curious if any historians knows if Christian groups believed the outbreak of WWI or II was the start of the biblical end-times. I feel as though if World War III were to break out today certain groups would be screaming "rapture."

I can't speak to any other areas of christianity, but the papacy in the world wars did not see the conflict as a signal of 'the Biblical end-times'. Both conflagrations were seen as terrible and costly. The wartime pontiffs--Benedict XV and Pius XII--both practiced neutrality. The first was by choice, the second was bound by the Lateran Accords to be neutral. Both pursued peace initiatives that were largely unsuccessful. Both also attempted humanitarian relief efforts, the earlier pontiff's efforts were much less controversial than those of the later pope. Neither expressed the thought that the war that dominated their reigns as pontiff was the harbinger of the end times.
