Sumerian, the first recorded language, is a language isolate with no known descendants, although it seems to have substantially influenced Akkadian. As for the names of rivers, the most famous rivers of Mesopotamia, the Tigris and Euphrates, were called Idigna and Buranuna; other toponyms are recorded in lexical lists but it is difficult to correlated them to known streams and bodies of water.
