Perhaps you could expand on what you mean by "social conservatives"? Do you mean people with beliefs similar to the post-Reagan Christian Right? Do you mean people of a conservative temperament generally? These are not identical. It was a radical thing to suggest that the very institution of slavery was evil, but modern conservatives don't deny that.
"Conservative", like "progressive", is a relative term. Conservatives in China were Maoists.
This isn't really a great way to put this question, as it carries a certain ideological freight that becomes less valid the further you go back in history.
That being said, one can certainly find some examples that generally fit the bill. The French Revolution was an event led by radicals and opposed by right-wing monarchists (the term right-wing actually derives from the Estates General during the early period of the revolution, when representatives from the Third Estate (the people) tended to seat themselves to the left of the president, while the Second Estate (the nobility) were on the right 'wing' of the chamber). The revolution devolved into what was quite accurately known as the Reign of Terror, until the Committee of Public Safety was overthrown and replaced with the Directory. It's difficult and bad historical practice to separate out 'good guys' and 'bad guys', but it's quite hard to justify the Reign of Terror by any means, making those in opposition (the royalists) look good by comparison.
Jan Matthys in Munster Germany and a lot of the Anabaptists along with Karl Marx and the early communists were liberal of their time and have wound up on the wrong side of History as its taught in some parts of the US.
I don't know what you mean by "social conservatives", but the politicians defending the ways of the old Roman republic against Caesar are generally seen as the "good guys".
Edit: Even the conservatives opposing the Gracchi's reforms a hundred years earlier are held to have been the "good guys" by some.
