I'm currently finish up my final presentation on the German colonies. The only thing I can't find any/very little information about is the situation today in relation to the colonial era. I would very much appreciate any help on this topic due to it effecting my grade, not just my historic education.
Thanks
Officially there was no German colony called West Africa. If you're referring to German South-West Africa, now known as Namibia, then absolutely there are descendants of German settlers living there, though most (but by no means all) of them now speak English or Afrikaans. If you're referring to Cameroon, however, then as far as I know there is no significant remaining German community.
Do you mean remnants like artifacts and buildings, descendants of Germans, or just the lasting effects of colonialism? I would say one of the most lasting effects of German colonialism in Namibia would be the Herero Genocide if that was the case.
Depending on what you are looking for I can provide more information and sources if you are still interested.
