I want to read the headlines of WWI on a 100 year delay for the centenary. For example on 5he 28th of this month I should be "learning" that the archduke was shot.
How can I best do this? I'd be willing to pay a small fee needed to access old archives?
The National Library of Australia through its Trove website has archived thousands of newspaper articles, although these are only Australian newspapers of course it still may be helpful. For example, the Sydney Morning Herald's story on the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
You should head over to the Library of Congress, because they have articles from small papers across the United States. And the New York Times let's you look at some 50 articles for free in their archives, which are all online. Oh hey, I guess you could check out the Times as well!
The New York Times has its archives open from 1851-1923 and 1986-pressent. All articles from years in between can be purchased through them.
The UK newspaper The Telegraph has a series on the run up to WWI day-by-day. There is a link to their full archive on this page.
