I've been listening to a lecture on ancient civilizations, and I heard about a troupe of ancient Greek youths who would perform acts of blasphemy to test the gods. They would do things like break into temples and eat the offerings to prove that the gods didn't exist, given that it was expected that their blasphemy would lead to ill fortune. The lecturer called these individuals the "Seekers of Ill Fortune" and for the life of me, I can't find any resources about them. Does anyone know of a website that could provide some good details? Thanks!
Could you give some information concerning this lecture - is it available online?
