A Level Personal Study Help

by magafas5396

For my history A level we have to come up with a person, place or event that is historically significant and controversial. What they mean by controversial is that opinions of the place, event in time or the person has changed from his time and now (example: George Bush--->initially liked then unanimously disliked). My ideas at the moment are George Bush and the atom bombs but I can't do anything about Germany from 1918-1945 and the French Revolution. Any ideas guys? Thank you so much!

Since based on 'A level' I am assuming you are in the UK (?) what about the Suez Canal? Or British responses to the Indian Independence movement?

What about Emmeline Pankhurst? She was a British campaigner for the women's right to vote. Controversial during most of her life.

Thanks for the help guys! I've ended up "choosing" (teacher basically told me) to do the Hiroshima Bomb. :D
