Why are some countries developed and wealthy and some are not ?

by RedditorFor8Years

I know the questions sounds dumb, but i have been thinking about it for a while and unable to come up with a cohesive answer.

What were some major factors that led to development of countries like USA,Canada,Australia, and a few european countries but some countries like in Africa, still don't have sanitation and electricity ?

Also, If governments of all those not-so-developed countries become ideal overnight, What can they do starting tomorrow so that their country can be on par with any developed country in the world ?

If you had a good answer to the last question, you'd probably get a Nobel Prize. Nonetheless there have been a handful of countries that have gone from rags to riches (South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Ireland, Israel) and a few that may do so in the near future (China, Indonesia, Brazil), and the answer seems to be to have some kind of economic climate that favours business development and encourages foreign investment.

Your first question isn't an easy one to answer either, but to summarise, a combination of corruption and mismanagement, lack of democracy, a long history of being looted by colonial powers and civil unrest keep Africa poor.
