Why are diners normally furbished in a 50's style and not like any from the other 80 years they've been around?

I'm just curious why they aim to keep this style going, is it because they want to keep the idealologies and optimism towards 'The American Dream' that was present in this era or just for pure nostalgia reasons? Sorry if this is the wrong sub, I thought a historian may know the reason why.

Does anyone know if diners in the 60s - 80s were also decked out in 50s style? (I can remember the 90s, plus, 20 year rule). Did diners just get "stuck" at some point in the 50s and never change?

My parents had a 70s diner. It was in 70s style, not 50s style. Some basic elements common in diners were the same but they were current technology. 50s retro was not so much a thing then. Although the tv show Happy Days did give some momentum to 50s nostalgia. Most people were focused on the current huge social, economic and political changes.

We had a juke box that played 45s but it was 70s style with current music. And a pinball but it was a 70s model. The building was not modeled after a train car like earlier diners. The orange crush in glass bottles and large size candy bars were current at the time. Dress code was more relaxed than the 50s for sure.
