There's lots of text detailing the fall of the Roman empire in Rome, but what about Greece? How was Greece affected culturally by the rise and fall of the Roman empire?

Greece was a part of the Eastern Roman Empire, which eventually became the Byzantine empire. They had to deal with their own problems while the Western Empire fell, but they still tried to get it back. Didn't quite work out so well for them.
