A quick Google search says that William Ogden was the first mayor of Chicago, but to me that doesn't account for the enormous number of Ogdens I've run across. Is this just the Dunning-Kruger Effect at work or this there something interesting behind the name Ogden?
Sorry to not be able to answer your question but I just thought I'd mention that it's unlikely to be the Dunning-Kruger effect (someone with limited knowledge having greater confidence in their conclusions than someone with greater knowledge due to a lack of awareness of the extent of their ignorance; The more you know, the more you know you don't know) but rather some form of Confirmation bias. You noticed a few Ogden Avenues found it odd and therefore were more likely to notice more Ogdens while the plethora of Frank Close's went uncommented.
A quick non sequitur just to further ensure this comment fails abysmally to answer your question: Ogden-ville is mentioned in the monorail episode of the Simpsons.
