Have any of Queen Elizabeth I's dresses survived to modern times?

by Dowew

I was just watching a documentary on the history of the imagery of Queens. They were talking to a costume historian about Elizabeth I's image and her use of clothing. Have any of her famous gowns survived in museums ?

It appears very few of them have, from memory Sudeley Castle has a christening gown said to have belonged to her, but the authenticity is dubious. Hatfield house has some of her belongings as well, riding gloves being amongst these. I would say that going for a tour there would be your best bet on investigating this.

I won't say for sure that none of her gowns and dresses still exist, but I think it is quite unlikely. Sorry this isn't so helpful as I'd like it's just very late where I am.
