Zhukov is often coined as the general who never lost a battle: He won Stalingrad, Moscow, Leningrad, Kursk, Berlin. I know that Eisenhower also praised him heavily for his generalship, but what made him so successful? I am aware that the number of soldiers he had at his disposal was massive but there had to of been more than that.
Hello! I've written about Zhukov and his legacy before! You might find this answer to be helpful.
May I suggest a very well made documentary (in Russian w/ English subs)- Georgy Zhukov - Rzhev -The Unknown Battle -. It was well put together and gives an interesting approach on Zhukov in my opinion. Certainly bolstered my personal opinions of him. Its on youtube if you want to see it
I was shocked to see below that someone said it was very rare to see Soviets/NKVD to execute their own soldiers, and NEVER in a combat zone. That is an extremely bold statement, and one which goes against books/etc I have read. Ive heard of Soviet Soldiers being shot if they happened to ruin an artillery piece by complete misfire accident!
