The Library of Congress released its new Recommended Formats for Long-Term Preservation on Monday and right now a lot of archivists are going over it and seeing what they like/agree with. I of course rushed to the end to see IS TIFF STILL THE WINNER? Spoilers: Yes, TIFF is still the winner for preferred image file format, jpg2000 continues to lag behind. Audio section may hold some thrills and chills for a few people with the firm middle finger it jabs to DRM, otherwise the document is nothing too exciting.

I have been reading "Return of a King: The Battle for Afghanistan, 1839-42" of which the paper back just came out a month or two ago. I am enjoying it and finding it very educational regarding the history of Afghanistan. I was wondering if any people more familiar with that region and time had read it and what they thought about it?
