Sorry if this does not fit here.
I have become really interested in the medival period, with the knights and chivalry and such. I am wondering if there is a book with shows armor and weapons from the medival (or the full history of weapons and armor until today) age, with information and pictures. I know i can read on wikipedia, but i am asking for a book.
Thanks in advance.
I'd recommend Kelly Devries and Robert Smith's, Medieval Weapons: An illustrated history of their impact, Oxford, Santa Barbara, and Denver, 2007. There are numerous books in the Osprey series but these tend to be of debatable historical value and rather short in terms (usually sixty to seventy pages with maybe a dozen illustrations) while there are a whopping eighty images in Medieval Weapons and Devries is a widely respected military historian.
However, knights and chivalric culture was much more than just hulking warriors with swords and lances, so I'd also recommend Craig Taylor's recent book Chivalry and the Ideals of Knighthood During the Hundred Years War, Cambridge, 2013. Preface available here and introduction available here. Also check out David Crouch, The Birth of Nobility, Harlow, 2005, although that is rather theoretical and historiographical.
Hope this helps, and if you have any questions on what you read feel free to post on the sub and PM me to alert me to your question.
