Belgian neutrality was important for Britain to ensure that they had a road to Europe for trade. Ships were the main vehicle of long-distance trade and they need a port to dock into - places in Belgium were ideal for this, and for obvious reasons, Britain did not want these ports to fall into the hands of their enemies (chiefly France). Hence, it was important for the economy for Belgium to stay neutral, which the Treaty of London did.
