Books about Genghis Khan and the Mongolian Empire

by stannisman

What books would you recommend concerning Genghis Khan, his descendants and the Mongolian Empire they created? I have read a number of historical fiction novels about them but want to learn more.

The usual go to book is Jack Weatherford's Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World. His follow up the Secret History of the Mongol Queens is beautifully written if I do say so myself. The other I'd recommend is the History of Mongol Conquests by J.J. Saunders. It gives a good focus of the Middle Eastern front.
