Having studied enough WW2 history to make my head spin, I can't say I remember any case of a German pilot crash-landing in Britain, surviving, and then going into hiding successfully.
Britain was and still is a densely populated island, and any guy walking around speaking German and wearing a flight suit would be noticed rather quickly. Also, said German would need to find clean water and food. He'd have to steal these things, increasing his chances of being noticed.
But hey, I could be wrong! I'd love to know if there are any stories of this I've missed!
The answers are focussing on mainland Britain, but what about Northern Ireland? It seems feasible to crash land in NI, and escape and evade to Eire? Were there cases of this?
