Romance languages are descended from Latin, meaning at one point, they were all one language we call Vulgar Latin.
Also, plenty of non-Romance languages within Europe were influenced by Latinate vocabulary, namely English, which is a Germanic language, but other Germanic languages have seen a lot of borrowing as well.
